Canvas Tents - Looking after and Maintaining

Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tents are made to a high standard and, properly cared for, will provide you with many years of excellent use.  In order to ensure continued enjoyment of your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent, recommend you undertake the following steps.

When pitching your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent, take care the material does not snag on protruding pegs, overhanging branches or other objects.  Pitch your tent on dry ground with the door facing down hill if on a slope, away from trees if possible, and be certain to clear any sharp stones from the ground where your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent will be pitched. If there is a stiff breeze prevailing from a particular direction, it is best to avoid pitching your tent at an angle whereby the breeze will blow into the tent through the door, this makes camp cooking easier also.

Pack the pegs and poles of your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent separately from the canvas, first checking that the pegs are dry to prevent them rotting during storage.

While your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent is erect, it is important to protect it from adverse weather conditions and damage through general wear and tear.  Check your tent regularly for evidence of mildew, any foreign matter collected on the tent, and anything else out of the ordinary.

Your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent is water repellant, however, rain will cause the canvas and lines to shrink.  This shrinkage can be sufficient to tear the canvas.  Avoid damaging the tent by loosening lines before they become water soaked, so that when they shrink, there is enough slack to prevent your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent from tearing.

In windy conditions, tighten all the lines of your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent immediately, check that all the pegs are secure in the ground and fasten the door entrances closed.  It is imperative that this is done, even if it is also raining heavily.

Keep a fire extinguisher containing water in the area of your Canvas Tent Shop Canvas Tent in case of emergency.
